The governmental, non-contributory HazEL product provides standing unauthenticated retrieval of linked tsunami events and runup observations for arbitrary geographic and time filters. Event outputs identify date, location, cause, validity, and tsunami magnitude or intensity; runup outputs identify the linked event and date, observation location, measurement type, water height and horizontal inundation in metres, arrival or travel time, validity, and checked-quality flags. The standing NOAA event/runup product returns dates and geography for catalogued tsunami events and observations together with tsunami-specific and total reported direct damage in millions of nominal event-time US dollars, houses damaged or destroyed, and casualty effects. It therefore supplies useful historical tsunami direct-damage and effects context by geography and observation period. Treat missing optional values as unknown; do not characterize reported damage as insured loss or inflation-adjusted loss, and do not infer catalogue completeness, a stable inclusion threshold, or immutable revisions.
