USGS ComCat and ShakeMap API
Open earthquake catalog API with per-event GeoJSON detail and downloadable ShakeMap grids containing event identity, time, magnitude, MMI, and map-version metadata.
Questions this answers
2 · best fit firstPublic FDSN query searches by time, rectangle/radius, event type, and magnitude and returns identity, time, location, and magnitude.
USGS event detail supplies earthquake id, event time and magnitude and links to a ShakeMap grid whose metadata includes event_timestamp, MMI values, shakemap_version and code_version. The grid pins event, measure, model version and spatial surface, but the citation does not by itself label each cell observed versus modelled or supply an explicit retrieval/as-of timestamp; PGA is percent g, not g.
Fields it delivers
3 fieldsUSGS documents ComCat as a global earthquake catalogue; ShakeMap availability is event-selective.
The cited agency/open-data terms and download or API page provide direct public access without an order, subscription, or payment step. An ordinary business buyer can therefore use the standing no-cost route, subject to the linked terms.
