What NOAA National Weather Service offers
6 sourcesOpen SPC historical severe-report database compiled from NWS Storm Data, currently covering U.S. tornadoes 1950–2025 and hail/damaging wind 1955–2025. Annual/full-period CSVs and SVRGIS path/initial-point shapefiles are one product family. Tornado files include raw state/county segments and de-segmented actual tracks. Magnitude means F/EF rating for tornado, inches for hail, and knots for wind with measured/estimated gust/sustained qualifier. Dated releases can correct and reprocess records, so retain release metadata. It is not a complete census, radar footprint, or building-impact dataset. SVRGIS creates a 0.0001-degree offset endpoint when no real endpoint was reported.
Standing archive of NHC/CPHC advisory forecast track, cone-of-uncertainty and watches/warnings bundles, with related wind-field files, published as downloadable shapefile/KML packages by storm and advisory. This Source preserves forecast-at-issuance evidence and is distinct from final HURDAT2 post-analysis. Geometry remains in source files and is not flattened into speculative scalar Features.
NHC's official post-storm best-track data product for Atlantic cyclones from 1851 and Northeast/North Central Pacific cyclones from 1949. Two basin files are delivery partitions of one HURDAT2 product. Records provide native six-hourly and selected asynoptic positions, status, winds, central pressure, wind radii, and landfall/peak identifiers.
Public operational API for NWPS hydrologic products. A buyer can list gauges by bounding box or retrieve a gauge by NWS LID or USGS ID. Gauge responses include location metadata, observed stage/flow status with units, valid time and flood category, configured action/minor/moderate/major flood thresholds, and observed stage-flow time series; forecast data are also present but are not the observation capability asserted here.
Operational NWM analysis and forecast output family published as NetCDF files. Terrain-routing grids directly emit modelled ponded-water depth (sfcheadsubrt) in millimetres at 250 m for CONUS and southern Alaska and 100 m for Hawaii and Puerto Rico/USVI, with model initialization time, output valid time, model configuration, NWM version, and code version. It is model output, not a satellite observation and not the separate NOAA Flood Inundation Mapping service.
Open multi-decade historical NWM simulation archive, versioned by NWM release and distributed in NetCDF and Zarr/cloud files. RTOUT terrain-routing files directly emit modelled ponded-water depth every three hours. Retrospective runs use observed rainfall and meteorological reanalysis but do not assimilate stream-gauge observations; they are model reconstructions, not direct flood observations.
