Crime rate
Observed or estimated offense incidence normalized to the source’s stated population and period; it is distinct from a modeled relative risk index. Source-specific scale, direction, threshold, period, and model semantics belong on the coverage edge where applicable.

2 sourcesBounded first-party CDE API family for monthly Crime Trend summaries at national, state/territory, and reporting-agency levels. Responses provide offense and clearance counts and rates, comparison series, population and participating-population denominators, population coverage, and UCR data-currency pins. The coordinated offense, state/territory, and agency lookups provide the identifiers and current offense menu required to address the summaries. Violent and property trends combine SRS with NIBRS submissions converted/summarized for trend presentation; aggregate displays may include FBI estimates for incomplete or nonreporting agencies. This Source is not a crime-risk model, premises prediction, incident-level NIBRS product, county-total product, or proof that unreported crime did not occur.
Commercial, non-contributory modeled crime-risk score product for buyer-named addresses and geographies. Coordinated delivery includes the CRIMECAST portal, Basic/Premium/Premium+ reports, PDF/Excel, API and batch lookup, GIS layers, and flat files. Scores carry methodology, benchmark geography, past/current/projected year, and release-vintage dimensions; Premium+ adds CAS, POI, demographic, CRF, and methodology-pattern context.
